Biography
Georges Yammine was born in 1979 in Zekrit, Lebanon, and lives between Qatar, Lebanon and Germany. He is a photographer and a violinist. His photographs are printed as giclée editions, usually mounted on aluminium.
He began violin lessons at 14 at the Lebanese National Conservatory in Beirut. In 1999 a scholarship took him to Germany, where he studied in Weimar and Berlin. He has played in the West Eastern Divan Orchestra since 1999 and in the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra since 2008. Touring with the West Eastern Divan Orchestra led him to photography, and a book of his photographs, Funkelnde Hoffnung (A Spark of Hope), appeared in 2014.
His Beaufort photographs of the castle in southern Lebanon date from 2018. Little Boy, from 2026, photographs toy constructions that include bullets and casings. Its first part was shown in Hong Kong in 2026, at Soho House with Artbridger Gallery, during the week of Art Basel Hong Kong. The Beirut exhibition at Difaf Gallery follows Silent Impact: Narrative of Bullets. His work is in the Barenboim-Said Foundation, Berlin, Schloss Arenberg, Salzburg, and the Alfardan Art Collection, Doha.
