Christine Ozeir

Christine Ozeir is a Lebanese painter who grew up in Lebanon in the 1980s and 1990s. She has been based in Portugal since 2022 and lives in Lisbon. She paints large abstractions in acrylic on canvas, built through a slow technique of repeated gestures that she compares to meditation.

She left Lebanon for the United States in 2000, completed graduate studies there and worked as a lecturer and researcher in economics, later working in construction, real estate and hospitality. Her painting moved from landscape to abstraction through experiment and repetition. The surfaces suggest maps, city streets, strata and fields, and deal with nostalgia and loss and with the Lebanese relation to land and exile. Works include Forever That Day (2021) and L'écume des jours (2024), both acrylic on canvas.

She took part in All the Places We Belong, the Artists of Beirut collective exhibition at Arthaus, Beirut, in 2026, and in Roots & Wings at Rebirth Beirut Space the same year.
