Press release
Art D'Égypte brings the second edition of Formed by Dialogue to the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, Cairo, from 5 to 14 November 2026. The exhibition gathers designers, makers and artists from Egypt, Lebanon and several other countries.
The organiser's text begins from the idea that art, design and craft have always travelled with people, ideas and materials. It asks how design traditions change through exchange, when techniques and ways of thinking from different places meet. The Middle East and Africa are presented as early sources of building, ornament, material culture and storytelling.
Participants are asked to treat design both as a carrier of identity and as a meeting point between cultures. They include the Egyptian painter Bahaa Amer and Amira Awad, an Egyptian designer who makes wooden furniture under the name Green Door. Sybil Layous, a Lebanese maker of hand-built clay vessels, also takes part.
Two Beirut-born designers join them: Hicham Ghandour, known for gilded furniture, and Omar Chakil, who works on interiors, objects and installations. May El Tabbakh, Mai Wahdan, Alana Burns, Lee Lee Nam, Johanna Van Parijs and Jiang Qiong Er also show work. So do the studios Chirmi, Draga & Aurel, Sten Studio, SUPER LOOP and Lisa-Lesunja.
The first edition was held at the same museum from 14 to 24 November 2025.
