Biography
Hicham Ghandour was born in Beirut in 1958. He is a furniture designer whose work grew out of gilding. His career in gilded objects began in 2002.
That work led to posts with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. He also made prototype gilded furniture with Ralph Lauren Home. Since 2016 he has designed collections for Nilufar Gallery in Milan.
His furniture pairs fine technical skill with precious materials and has a strong sculptural presence. It looks back to historical models while remaining contemporary. In 2026 he took part in Formed by Dialogue II at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, organised by Art D'Égypte.
