Biography
Sybil Layous is a Lebanese designer-maker who works in clay. She builds her pieces by hand, using coiling, slabs and pinching, and makes both sculptural objects and vessels.
Her path to ceramics began elsewhere. She worked in fashion in Paris and then started Flor:ish, a floral design project in Beirut. She took up clay in 2017 and now works only in ceramics. Since 2023 she has been based in Paris.
Her forms are biomorphic and taken from nature. They play light against shadow and balance symmetry against irregular shapes. They are neither figurative nor geometric, and sit between sculpture and useful object. In 2026 she took part in Formed by Dialogue II at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, organised by Art D'Égypte.
