Press release

Cairo International Art District 06: Alive Archive is a group exhibition organised by Art D'Égypte in Downtown Cairo. It runs from 11 October to 8 November 2026 across three venues: The Factory, Access Art Space and Kodak Passage.

The sixth edition brings together site-specific installations, urban interventions and a citywide art walk. Its premise, the organiser writes, is "that Downtown Cairo is not a fixed backdrop but a living archive". Art D'Égypte writes that the district stores its history "not primarily in monuments or official records, but in traces: a worn stair, a café chair reshaped by years of use, layers of paint and peeling posters". The organiser writes that the exhibition treats "these overlooked marks as the material of collective memory".

The edition is built from several bodies of work. One of them is The World Appears in Fragments. In the organiser's words, it "explores geography not as a fixed physical space, but as something continuously shaped by memory, experience, perception, desire, and absence". In the organiser's words, each artwork "becomes a subjective map, not of a particular place, but of the traces a place leaves within us".

Art D'Égypte started the Cairo International Art District in 2021, when it used twelve spaces in Downtown Cairo. The fifth edition, from 12 October to 16 November 2025, showed work by more than 150 artists across five locations, including Kodak Passage. The sixth edition marks six consecutive years of partnership between Art D'Égypte and Al Ismaelia for Real Estate Investment, with sponsorship from Tradeline.
