Biography
Rebel Spirit is the pseudonym of Mohammed Amine El Bellaoui, a Moroccan artist born in Casablanca. He kept the name he used to sign graffiti in the street. He has practised urban art since childhood and works across several disciplines.
His work draws on popular imagery rooted in Casablanca's past. The Institut français describes him as resisting fashion in contemporary art. In 2019 the Galerie Banque Populaire in Rabat gave him the solo show Un poète dans la ville, presented as a show of street art. In 2023 L'Atelier 21 in Casablanca exhibited his work.
In 2026 he is one of eight younger artists in Du Groupe de Casablanca aux nouvelles générations, a tribute to Abderrahmane Rahoule at the same Rabat gallery. His contribution includes a painting of the singer Kharboucha.
