Biography

Abdessamad Bouysramne is a Moroccan visual artist born in Marrakech in 1995. Painting, photography, installation and video all belong to his practice, and calligraphy often enters the work. Monochrome fields of bright, strong pigment recur across it.

His subjects include written artefacts on paper, leather and engraved rock, together with archaeological spaces, historic buildings and the passage of time. He calls his method an "archaeology of the present". In later works the readable letter recedes, and writing is handled for its archaeological dimension. One dated example is Monochrome Brown Chap #2 (2020), a square work in mixed media on canvas, 80 by 80 cm.

Bouysramne graduated from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Casablanca in 2017. In 2021 he held a solo exhibition, Tumulte, at Galerie Artem in Casablanca. In 2024 he took part in the Asilah international cultural season. The same year he joined the group show Danse des signes at Abla Ababou Galerie in Rabat. In 2026 the same gallery presents his solo exhibition Arraqîm.
