Biography
Abdallah Bouhamidi is a Moroccan photographer born in Azrou in 1946. He has taken photographs since 1970. He lives in Vienna, Austria, his home for sixteen years, after earlier periods in Errachidia, Azrou, Aït Hadiddou and Paris.
He trained as a clinical psychologist. From 1976 to 2010 he ran institutions for the protection of children, and kept up his photography alongside that career. He also cycles long distances. His rides include three trips from Vienna to Tangier, one from Salzburg to Rome, four from Vienna to France and one to the Black Sea.
His series Hidden/Hiding, shown at the Espace Rivages in Rabat in 2026, is made wholly in monochrome. It looks at urban space through the tension between what is visible and what is concealed.
