Biography

Hiba Baddou is a Moroccan artist, born in Rabat in 1997, who lives and works between Paris and Rabat. Her output includes experimental films, photographs, paintings, sculptures and live calligraphy performances.

Paraboles, a project in several media, starts from the satellite dish to ask how images shape migration. Her 2026 solo show at Galerie Delacroix, Tangier, was Paraboles : Une Odyssée Hertzienne. It included Cous-mic, a constellation of 101 couscous pots, and La Parabomobile, a tricycle covered in dishes. It also set out République d'Hertz, an invented world with its own alphabet, passport and sacred book. Language, ritual and identity recur across her work, and her own site describes its look as retro-futuristic.

Baddou holds a master's in art direction from Penninghen, Paris (2023), and a bachelor's in filmmaking from EICAR, Paris (2018). In 2024 she was global winner of the Art for Change Prize, with an exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, London. That year she also showed in the Dak'Art Biennale's international exhibition, and Paraboles won first prize at the AVIFF Cannes Art Film Festival. In 2025 she had a solo presentation at MACAAL, Marrakech, in partnership with the Institut français du Maroc. As an art director she has designed record sleeves and visual identities for musicians, Manu Chao and Keziah Jones among them.
