Press release
Jifa-Man 212 is a solo exhibition by the Moroccan filmmaker, writer and artist Hicham Lasri at L'Uzine in Aïn Sebaâ, Casablanca. It runs from 16 October 2026 to 16 March 2027.
Lasri was born in Casablanca in 1977. He works across film, fiction, comics and drawing. His novels include Sainte Rita (2015), Punk Fitna (2024) and Cloud cowboys (2025). His graphic novel Fawda appeared in 2017. Morocco World News describes it as a Casablanca story told through collage, text, images and layered narratives.
In summer 2026 Lasri and his team began posting about one work a day online. The posts mixed pencil drawings, paintings, collage, works on paper and canvases. Some pieces borrow stamps and the look of official paperwork. Lasri has said that he does not try to have a style. He cites cut-up, collage, Pop Art, Warhol and comics as influences, and works mostly in A4 and A3.
L'Uzine is the arts centre of the Touria and Abdelaziz Tazi Foundation, opened in 2014 in the industrial zone of Aïn Sebaâ. Its programme takes in concerts, exhibitions, film screenings, workshops and performance.
