Press release
Biosphaerae is a solo exhibition by the Moroccan artist Fatime Zahra Morjani at Galerie Shart in Casablanca. It runs from 15 October to 14 November 2026.
The show turns on silphium, a plant prized in Antiquity that has since vanished. Through oil paintings and a temporary installation, Morjani imagines it growing back in today's cities, between paving stones and in the gaps of buildings. Her themes are loss, memory, the exploitation of living things and resilience. The fern answers the lost plant as a sign of continuity.
Morjani trained as an architect. Her practice combines painting, experimental photography, cyanotype and installation. She treats plants as material, as archive and as witness to changing landscapes. Galerie Shart showed her series Analogies in 2024, where the plant stood for the fragility of the human condition.
Hassan Sefrioui founded Galerie Shart in 2006. Since late 2017 the gallery has been on Rue du 6 Octobre in the Racine district.
