Hoda Baalbaki

Hoda Baalbaki was born in Beirut in 1968; her family is from Odaisse. She paints in acrylic and mixed media on canvas and paper: bouquets, olive and pine trees, fields and houses. She works in bright colour and loose, spontaneous compositions, as in Olive trees (2016) and The lonely house (2017).

Baalbaki studied painting at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Lebanese University, graduating in 1995, and is a member of the Syndicate of Lebanese Plastic Artists. She began showing with Alwane Gallery in 2001; her solo exhibitions there include Graffiti (2005), Different Moods of the Extended Space (2010) and Paradis d'ailleurs (2013). In Dubai she showed A World on My Own at Courtyard Gallery in 2008 and Colorful Impressions at Noon Art Gallery in 2016. She received a first prize from the Hariri graduates' association in 2002 and again in 2003.

In Beyti, her solo exhibition at Chaos Art Gallery in Beirut in 2026, she turned to home as a place shaped by memory, experience and emotion.
