Biography
Farrah Berrou is a Lebanese-American writer, art director and filmmaker based in Beirut, with family roots in Kfarkela, a border village in South Lebanon. She holds degrees in biology and graphic design from universities in Lebanon and worked in advertising, design and retail for twelve years.
Buffer Zone (2025), a short documentary, follows her family's return to Kfarkela on 19 February 2025 after the village's destruction, shot on a phone and mixed with archival images. It was shown in a living-room setting in Hkeeli Ya Jnoub at Beit Beirut in 2026 and screened at the Arab American National Museum, Dearborn, in April 2026. It is included in Geographies of Re-union at Marsah, Tripoli, in 2026.
Her writing on wine has appeared in Wine Enthusiast and Eater, and she was shortlisted for the Jancis Robinson Wine Writing Competition in 2021 and 2023. In 2021 she started the print newspaper Aanab, which continues online as Aanab News.
