Press release
Galerie Cheriff Tabet in Achrafieh, Beirut, presents Prismes, a solo exhibition by Michel Chidiac, from 28 October to 19 November 2026. The show brings together 48 works: 25 oil paintings on canvas and 23 watercolours. It opened with a reception at the gallery on Tuesday 27 October.
The new work turns to architecture. The exhibition listing names urban structures and the poetry of volumes as its subjects. They move between abstraction and a meditative geometry, with refractions of light. The listing sums up the whole as a radiant city shaped by emotion.
The painting reproduced on the gallery's invitation shows angular, block-like volumes in ochre, brown, cream and red. They rise on a cluster of thin vertical stilts against a grey-blue ground. Behind it, the invitation enlarges a faded detail of a second painting in the same angular manner. The artist signs with a small monogram set in a box in the lower right corner.
Chidiac trained as an interior architect at the Académie Charpentier in Paris and lives in Beirut. Painting runs alongside his design practice, and he has shown his work in both Paris and Beirut. From 7 to 24 May 2024 the same gallery showed Jardin Stellaire, the result of two years of work. That December, Agora Gallery presented his oils at Aqua Art Miami. Prismes is open from Monday to Saturday, 11am to 7pm, until Thursday 19 November. The gallery is in the Saad Bitar Building, at the intersection of Rue Abdel Wahab El Inglizi and Rue Doumani.
