Ayşe Gül Süter presents Light Constellation, a solo exhibition at Pg Art Gallery in Maslak, Istanbul, from 11 September to 16 October 2026. The works are installations of stainless steel points and rods. Placed within the gallery, they make physical links across the space and resemble constellations at first glance.
The exhibition treats the constellation as a metaphor rather than an astronomical subject. Stars that lie millions of light years apart appear joined only because of where we stand on Earth, and the lines between them are drawn by the observer. Süter applies the same thought to human relationships, to the ties that shape a life although they can seldom be seen or defined.
The gallery's text gives everyday examples. They include a mother's closeness to her unborn child, a call from someone far away just as they come to mind, and meetings that change the direction of a life. It states that the aim of art is not to prove such links but to make the unseen felt. The installations suggest that a connection lies less in the objects than in the way they are brought together.
The series follows Süter's earlier work on how light alters perception. Path of Light, shown at the gallery in 2022, examined light, material, refraction and reflection, and how viewers relate to space and to their own bodies. In the new works her attention moves from light itself to the hidden structure of relationships, between objects in a room and between colours, which light keeps transforming.
