The Shadow Remains (Gölgesi Kalır) is the first solo exhibition of Tansu Köse, a painter born in Istanbul in 1994. It runs from 2 to 17 October 2026 at KAIROS, a gallery on Meşrutiyet Caddesi in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. The show brings together paintings of everyday objects, among them chairs, beds and tables, including small oil-on-canvas works.

Köse treats the object as a record of someone who is no longer in the room. In her paintings, a chair, a jacket or a table carries the habits, the weight and the spatial ties of an absent body. Loss and belonging are not described directly. They are left to the silent presence of what remains. The exhibition takes its cue from Georges Perec, who asked readers to look again at the ordinary. It follows the repetitions and interruptions of daily life and the traces they leave behind, and asks viewers to notice the shapes that absence takes inside objects and spaces.

Works shown by the gallery during the exhibition belong to the series Söyleyeceklerim Var (I Have Things to Say), made in 2026. In number III, an unmade iron bed stands on a chequered floor with a pair of shoes beneath it. In number XI, a red checked jacket hangs over a wooden chair, and a lit candle on the seat throws the shadow of the chair across a blue ground. Both are oil on canvas, measuring 30 by 40 centimetres and 40 by 40 centimetres.

Köse lives and works in Istanbul. Before this exhibition she took part in group projects, including Mamut Art Project in 2019, BASE in 2020 and a 2021 show at Labirent Sanat. Ezgi Yıldız founded KAIROS in 2022. The exhibition is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 1pm to 6pm.
