Biography

Rawad Ghattas (b. 1984) is a Lebanese artist who works in painting. His first and lasting source is nature, along with the natural and social world around him. He also draws on literature, philosophy, personal experience and questions of human existence. Art District describes his painting as joining Abstract Expressionism with Modern Realism. His 2026 exhibition poster shows a detail of one canvas. A standing figure in browns, ochres and plum rises on a broad green ground, with the weave visible through the paint.

Faceless (2023) was a body of disfigured portraits of ordinary people from his neighbourhood. The portraits carry their struggles, stories and memories, rooted in the years of war in Lebanon. The title Cyclopath (2025) joins the words cycle and path. The work turns on a figure bound to keep returning to the same starting point. Federalism of the Body (2026) works through feminine presences. The gallery presents the body there as a place of liberation, contemplation and resistance in a time of war.

Ghattas was born in a rural community. He holds a BA in Fine Arts. His first solo exhibition was Faceless at The LT Gallery, Beirut (2023). Cyclopath followed at Galerie Cheriff Tabet, Beirut (2025), and Federalism of the Body at Art District Gallery, Beirut (2026).
