Layla Dagher

Layla Dagher is a Lebanese painter born in Beirut, where she lives and works. She paints in acrylic and mixed media and, in later work, combines painting with collage and layering.

Her earlier paintings use square compositions resembling window frames, with figures and animals set before an abstracted landscape or cityscape. Beirut and the Lebanese landscape remain her subject, worked in variations on a theme. Living Chaos (2020), a long canvas in layered acrylic and oil pastel, set down her sense of the city during the protests of that period. It was selected for the 2020 Salon d'Automne in Paris, which was presented online that year.

She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Visual Arts from the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) and teaches fine arts at Notre Dame University. Art on 56th in Beirut held her solo exhibitions Escapism (2022) and Unexpected Dialogue (2025). She has also shown in Tokyo, Seoul and Paris, and her work is in the collection of the Lebanese Ministry of Culture.
