Biography
Issa Halloum was born in 1968 in Kuwait. A Lebanese painter who also sculpts, he works from direct observation, painting landscapes with heavily textured surfaces and vivid colour.
Nature is his main source. He paints landscapes, market scenes, balcony views and anonymous figures, studying movement and light and stressing the flatness of the canvas. His forms are simplified and his brushwork energetic.
He graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts at the Lebanese University in 1993 and studied artistic anatomy at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, receiving a diploma in 1999. Art on 56th in Beirut held his solo exhibition Brilliance of Nature in 2021, and Al Markhiya Gallery in Doha has shown his work. He has exhibited in Lebanon, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Italy.
