Ayça Telgeren

Ayça Telgeren (b. 1975, Gölcük, Turkey) is an artist based in Istanbul who works in sculpture, drawing, cut-out, watercolour, lithography, site-specific intervention and video. Her subjects are the body and space, the masculine and the feminine, intimacy through personal history, and collective memory. Her sculptures at the 2026 Çanakkale Biennial are made in concrete, one holding water in a concrete basin.

Her solo exhibitions include Skin Diving (2011), I'll Keep It Till You Come Back (2013) and Hand of the Artist (2015). Sugar Cube followed in Izmir in 2015. Under My Skin (2020) was curated by Ela Atakan, and Broken Horizon opened in 2024. At the Troy Museum for the 10th Çanakkale Biennial, Ebb & Flow (2026), she showed four concrete works: Güzel Marmara, Kızkardeşler, Büyüme Sancısı and Soy Aynası. In Soy Aynası the water in a concrete basin becomes a reflecting surface. She is a founding member of the collectives HAH, 216 Düşünce ve Üretim Alanı, 3 Günlük Sergi and Atış Serbest.

She took a BA (1998) and an MA (2007) in the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Mimar Sinan University. Her solo shows were held at Galerist, Istanbul (2011 to 2024), and Maquis Art Project, Izmir (2015). Group exhibitions include A Dream...but not yours in Washington, D.C., at the National Museum of Women in the Arts (2010). She showed at Odunpazarı Modern Museum, Eskişehir (2019 and 2022), and Meşher, Istanbul (2022). Istanbul Modern included her in Always Here (2023) and Beneath the Same Blue (2026). She also showed at Künstlerhaus Palais Thurn & Taxis, Bregenz (2023), and Erimtan Museum, Ankara (2026). In 2026 she held a residency at Moly-Sabata, Fondation Albert Gleizes, Sablons, France. Her work is in the collections of Istanbul Modern, Odunpazarı Modern Museum and Bilsart. She is represented by Galerist, Istanbul.
