Biography

Dilara Altınkepçe Arslan (b. 1993, Bursa, Turkey) is an artist based in Istanbul who works in textile, installation, sculpture and new media. Her subjects are memory, her personal archive, Anatolian kilim motifs and Central Asian shaman imagery. Most pieces are made in thread on raw cotton fabric, from small panels to works two metres long.

She reworks animal images and protective motifs from Anatolian kilims. RE- (2024), her first solo show, included ID / Vesika (2024), a thread work with augmented reality. Alarm (2025) is a digital installation centred on a griffin built from the limbs of five animals. Bugün / Today (2025) stacks masks from historical Central Asian depictions. Personal Archive, 1993-2020 (2026) is 27 small framed pieces drawn from her past. Manyak (2026) is a sculpture named after an Altai shaman garment.

She trained at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul (2011 to 2016). From 2015 to 2016 she took costume and accessory design in Bologna, at the Accademia di Belle Arti. Her master's at Mimar Sinan (2024) studied animal symbols in Anatolian kilims. She showed at BASE, Akaretler Sıraevler, Istanbul (2023), and in the Akbank 43rd Contemporary Artists Prize Exhibition, Akbank Sanat, Istanbul (2025). Nelumbo Studios, Istanbul, held her solo shows RE- (2024) and Env. No. 26.004.511 (2026). She co-founded the space with Kerim Arslan in 2020.
