Ali Şentürk

Ali Şentürk (b. 1985, Ankara, Turkey) is an artist based in Antalya and Istanbul who works in sculpture, painting, photography, video and performance. His work uses metaphor and irony to look at the self and the other. His Kırmızı Özetler series renders the body in translucent layers of red.

He trained as a sculptor at Hacettepe University, Ankara, finishing his BA in the Faculty of Fine Arts in 2012. He took his graduate degree in the same department. His first solo exhibition, In Search of Ali Şentürk, was held at METU, Ankara, in 2014. The series Kırmızı Özetler (Red Summaries) treats the body as a fragile structure that changes under touch. In these pictures hands either hold the figure up or hold it back. Untitled (2026) is a watercolour on paper of 53 by 39 centimetres. A second watercolour, siren, is painted on khadi paper and measures 76 by 56 centimetres.

His solo exhibitions include This Is Not Us, This Is What Remained From Us (2019) at Mixer, Istanbul. Historical and Geological Corrections followed at Are Projects, Antalya (2020). Simplified Heavy Burdens was shown at Galeri Siyah Beyaz, Ankara (2022), and Silence Beyond Mind at PG Art Gallery (2024). In 2013 he took part in the CerModern Guest Artist Programme and Empty Houses Don't Make A City, a group show at M1886. Later group shows include Still Life with a Curtain at Galerist (2018) and 99 Square at Art On (2018). In 2019 he showed in PAPER at Pilevneli Project and Young Fresh Different 10: One Must Continue, a group show at Zilberman. Eve Dönüş at Are Projects (2025) and My Body Keeps Breathing As The World Fades (2026), Galeri Nev İstanbul, followed. He also shows in A Disenchanted World (2026), curated by Derya Yücel at Lenzart Space, Istanbul.
