About
Amman Design Week is a biennial design event set up in 2016 on Queen Rania's initiative. Organised with the Greater Amman Municipality, it presents exhibitions, installations, workshops and discussions across the city, with its headquarters at the Ras Al Ain Hangar.
The Hangar was built in the 1930s in a valley among Amman's hills, as a site for the generators that supplied electricity to the capital. It was later rehabilitated as a cultural venue for exhibitions, lectures and events, and holds the main exhibition of the 2026 edition.
Earlier editions took place in 2016, 2017 and 2019, the last under the title Possibilities. The fourth edition, Accumulations, followed a gap of seven years and took the programme to Aqaba for the first time. Alongside its exhibitions, the event runs a student mentorship programme and a residency with Ithra Design Week for designers from Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
