Press release
Comptoir des Mines Galerie in Marrakech presents Silent layers, a solo exhibition by Reda Boudina, from 21 November 2026 to 30 January 2027. Boudina is a Moroccan artist, born in Meknès in 1995, who lives and works in Rabat. He signs his murals RDS. The gallery's images of the show present wall works built around a large disc and cut circular forms. His work takes its forms from brutalist architecture and the modern Moroccan city.
Boudina first met graffiti as a child, looking down from a railway bridge in Meknès at walls painted by the late Rabie El Addouni. He began signing murals in 2010 and developed a three-dimensional lettering in the wildstyle tradition. He went on to study graphic arts in Rabat and graduated from the Institut National des Beaux-Arts in Tétouan in 2019. His later work moves from letters towards buildings. The gallery reads it as a study of the language of modernity in postcolonial Morocco, in contrast with the ancestral imagery that artists of the independence years drew on.
A project of the same name was among the visual arts grantees of the 2026 Production Awards run by Culture Resource (Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy). Culture Resource describes it as a sculptural and sound installation about the memory and fragility of cities. It starts from Meknès and lays maps, broken into fragments, across plexiglass, adding sound and motion. Earlier works shown in London in 2024 used concrete as their main material, combined with other media.
The exhibition follows Modernités fugitives, his solo show at Comptoir des Mines Galerie in 2022, held within the first edition of MAJAZ. Boudina took part in the first edition of the Jidar Rabat Street Art Festival in 2015 and led its Mur Collectif project in 2025. In 2023 he held the Lab Digital Morocco residency at Stereolux in Nantes. There he developed a video mapping installation projected onto a wooden bas relief.
