Press release

Art Design Lebanon presents Resurgence in Motion Part II at Labyrinthe, on Gergi Zeidan Street in Achrafieh, Beirut. The group exhibition opened on 7 October 2026 and was due to close on 28 October. It has been extended to Friday 11 December. Annie Vartivarian curated the show, with scenography by Yasmina Wakim.

Seven artists look at what remains after a collective break. Their works trace how trauma settles in the body, in memory and in the landscape, and how people go on living with it. The exhibition treats memory as a constant trade between fragility and endurance. It follows a first part, held at Labyrinthe until 18 September and made in memory of 4 August.

The artists are Abdallah Kassem, Chérine Yazbeck, Christine Safatly, Engram Beirut, Joanna Andraos, Hala Mouzannar and May Arida. Kassem's Autoportrait (2022), in acrylic, spray paint and pastel, builds a labyrinth of rectangles and circles around an image from the aftermath of the explosion. Yazbeck shows black-and-white photographs of Beirut from 1991, printed from negatives she recovered in 2012. Another series reworks photographs from the street protests of December 2019, cropped, mirrored and layered until new shapes appear.

Labyrinthe also runs breathing, yoga and movement sessions, and the show is meant to be met through presence as well as sight. The exhibition is open Monday to Friday, from 12pm to 6pm.
