Biography

Sanam Sayehafkan was born in Rasht, Iran, in 1989 and lives and works in Tehran. She is a painter who works in oil on canvas, often at large scale: works in her Labyrinth series measure up to 150 by 204.5 cm.

Labyrinth consists of paintings dated 2020 and 2021, among them This Season Did Not Come to an End and Resting in the Sunlight of a Forgotten Afternoon. Bavan Gallery presented the series in a solo exhibition of the same name in 2021. Her second solo show at the gallery, The Garden of Undiscovered Passages, opened in October 2026 and includes the diptych The Unfinished Feast, dated 2025.

She holds a B.A. in management from Payam Noor University of Gilan (2013). Her group exhibitions include Evocation Field in Los Angeles and Tall Tales at Foundry in Dubai, both in 2024. Later came Continuum: The Unbroken Line of Persian Art in Dubai in 2025 and Home at Bavan Gallery in 2026. Bavan Gallery showed her work at Contemporary Istanbul in 2022 and 2023.
