Biography
Natalie Najjar is a Palestinian artist and designer. Her practice covers illustration, graphic design and corporate branding, as well as the design of books and products. She set up Natalie Najjar Studio in 2017. Her pieces are built from fine, closely worked detail and take their references from Arabic calligraphy, Middle Eastern visual culture and the motifs of traditional Palestinian textiles.
In 2026 she showed "i overcome" in "Ijtiyaz", a juried group exhibition at Palestinian Art Court Al Hoash in Jerusalem. The work is a book and a set of cards printed on paper at 29.7 by 42 cm. It pairs photographs from her personal archive, gathered over 17 years, with short letters on moving past a stage of life, a person or a memory. She wrote the words in response to what each image meant to her, and some letters come from the experience of people around her.
Najjar studied mass communication at the American University of Sharjah, taking a BA with a focus on advertising and marketing. In October 2020 Palestine Museum US invited her to give an online artist talk, "Coloring Books for All Ages", and introduced her as a designer working in Ramallah. Her branding work includes the identity of Roots & Glow, a Palestinian skincare label, drawing on the pomegranate and on tatreez embroidery.
