Press release
Palestinian Art Court Al Hoash in Jerusalem presents "Ijtiyaz", a juried group exhibition of 19 artists curated by Manar Idrissi, from 24 September to 29 October 2026. A jury picked the works from 70 applications. Installation views show large paintings, smaller framed pieces, printed matter on a plinth and a backlit photographic panel across its white galleries on Al Zahra Street.
Al Hoash conceived the exhibition as a response to the shrinking of Palestinian public space in Jerusalem. The centre also points to a lack of places in the city where cultural workers can meet, talk and show their work. It is the fifth exhibition Al Hoash has mounted in 2026.
The exhibitors are Aya Mohsen, Aseel Daour Tamimi, Tala Yazbak, Jaber Qaraqra, Hala Shweiki, Najma Tarbieh, Khaled Ladadweh, Duaa Omari and Riyad Kurd. They are joined by Shahd Atbakhi, Shaimaa Karim, Abdelqader Basalat, Abboud Abu Teir, Kamla Sheikh Ahmad, Mohammad Bakri, Mohammad Qweider, Maryam Shweiki, Natalie Najjar and Nimer Shaloudi. Riyad Kurd also designed the exhibition graphics.
Among the works is "i overcome" by the Palestinian designer and illustrator Natalie Najjar, a book with a set of cards printed on paper at 29.7 by 42 cm. It sets photographs from her own archive, gathered over 17 years, beside short letters about passing through a stage of life, a circumstance, a person or a memory. Some letters draw on her own experience and others on people close to her. The exhibition opened on 24 September 2026 at 6.30pm and can be visited from Saturday to Thursday, 12pm to 6pm. The installation photographs are by the artist Marwa Bakri.
