Biography
Born in Denizli, Turkey, in 1990, Hakan Gürbüzer still lives and works in that city. He paints in oil on canvas and also draws in pencil and pastel on paper. By his own account he builds a painting around one figure who faces the viewer, and he deforms both the figure and the space around it.
Gürbüzer studied at the Department of Education of Visual Arts at Pamukkale University from 2010 to 2014. He then worked in a tattoo studio and opened a studio of his own in 2017. His canvases include Sus / Shush (2023), Araf / Purgatory (2023) and The Thin Line (2026). He gives priority to form and colour, and the gallery's texts place his portraits between cubist fragmentation and hyperrealist detail.
He took part in a group exhibition at Pamukkale University in 2014 and in Bir Grup İnsan in Denizli in 2022. Galeri 77 included his work in Body & Beyond in 2024 and Summer Solstice in 2025, and lists him in its Contemporary Istanbul roster for 2025. Metanoia at Galeri 77 in 2026 is his first solo exhibition.
