Fateme Motallebi

Fateme Motallebi was born in 1995 in northern Iran. She is a painter and calligrapher who works mainly in papier-mâché on canvas, building tactile landscapes whose surfaces have a physical, three-dimensional character.

Her work concerns surface, texture and three-dimensional form. She has moved gradually away from the brush and uses coloured papier-mâché to carry memories of landscape, taken from different seasons in northern Iran, into each painting. The works in Paper to Nature are dated 2025 and 2026, and the listed ones carry the title Untitled.

Motallebi studied painting to degree level at the University of Art and draws on training in both painting and calligraphy. Her solo show Paper to Nature is on view in Tehran, at Doost Art Gallery, from 18 September to 17 November 2026.
