Biography
Emre Celali was born in 1989 in İzmir, where he keeps his studio. He studied painting at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul and works mainly with landscape.
His statement describes the order of human settlements as tangled rather than clear. Roads that join people also divide them, and the quiet in these formations is read as a sign of another storm. The resulting landscapes, he says, can be seen as a self-portrait of society. Labirent Sanat has given him four solo exhibitions: Prytaneion in 2022, Doğaya Uygun Yaşamak in 2024, İnsanın Uyumu in 2025 and Hatıra Ormanları in 2026.
Celali received an Honourable Mention at the 5th Genç Sanat contemporary art project competition in 2019, shown at CerModern in Ankara. Success awards followed at the 6th Genç Sanat competition in 2020 and the 75th State Painting and Sculpture Competition in 2021. His group exhibitions include Z Raporu in Ankara in 2023 and Serbest-lik in Izmir in 2024.
