Dalal Al-Obaidi

Dalal Al-Obaidi (b. 1996, Kuwait) is a Kuwaiti painter who lives and works in Kuwait. She paints figurative compositions in oil on canvas and linen, and draws in soft pastel on paper. Her pictures draw on Kuwaiti television and theatre and on a life divided between Kuwait and London.

Her work deals with memory, place and identity. Frogs, Jazz & Blisters (2026) brings together thirteen oil paintings and two pastel drawings. In Dream Exchange (2026) characters from the Kuwaiti stage comedy Bye Bye London appear inside Pimlico Underground station. Three paintings take their subject from an old Kuwaiti television game show. Phantom (2026) shows a man beside an expensive car in the desert, with a plastic chair.

Al-Obaidi studied for a master's degree at Central Saint Martins, London. Her first solo show, Time to Go, was held at Sultan Gallery, Kuwait, in 2024. In 2026 she showed in Five Painters, Taymour Grahne Projects, Dubai, and I Am Not What I Am, I Become, Athr Gallery, Jeddah.
