About
Sharjah Art Museum opened on 17 April 1997 in the Arts Area of the Heart of Sharjah, facing the Emirates Fine Arts Society in Al Shuwaiheen. It is one of the museums run by Sharjah Museums Authority, and entry is free.
The museum spreads over three floors and holds more than 500 works of modern and contemporary Arab art. Painters and sculptors in its collection include Abdulqader Al Rais, Louay Kayali, Faiq Hassan and Mohammed Yusuf. Visitors can also consult its art library, which has more than 4,000 titles across Arabic, English and other languages.
Temporary exhibitions, talks and workshops run through the year, among them the Lasting Impressions series on artists such as Baya Mahieddine and Ismail Shammout. In 2018 the Barjeel Art Foundation opened a long-term display of its collection here. The museum is a venue of the 12th Sharjah Calligraphy Forum, which opened in October 2026.
