Saleh Barakat Gallery

Saleh Barakat Gallery opened on 25 May 2016 to mark the 25th anniversary of Agial Art Gallery, which Saleh Barakat founded in Ras Beirut in 1990 and which the gallery credits with playing a central role in putting Beirut back on the map of Arab art. After three years of planning and remodelling, it occupies one of the city's emblematic cultural sites: the former Cinema Clemenceau, later the theatre Masrah Al-Madina, now transformed into what Art Basel's gallery profile calls a white cube of monumental scale.

Working across the primary and secondary markets, the gallery shows modern and contemporary art from Lebanon and the Arab world, from established names to emerging artists, alongside historical and retrospective exhibitions drawn in part from its permanent collection. Its roster, shared with Agial, includes Shafic Abboud, Saloua Raouda Choucair, Nabil Nahas, Ayman Baalbaki, Helen Khal and Abdul Rahman Katanani. The Upper Gallery, a smaller space within the building, hosts rotating displays and experimental or overlooked practices. The gallery shows regularly at international fairs, most recently Art Paris 2026.
