About

Nelumbo Studios is an artist-led gallery and production space in Caferağa, Kadıköy, Istanbul. Dilara Altınkepçe Arslan and Kerim Arslan set it up in 2020, naming it after the white lotus that flowers in marshland. It works mainly with emerging artists whose practice moves between traditional and new media, from painting, sculpture and photography to music and installation.

Its programme includes solo shows by the artists it works with, such as Kerim Arslan's Alamet / The Omen, Arif Çekderi's Chordata Nihil and Çağrı Dizdar's Araf. Group exhibitions run alongside them, as does The Green Lotus, a series of editions for emerging artists. In 2024 it showed In The Presence Of Being, a selection from the collection of Ali Özbatur curated by Nil Nuhoğlu.

The gallery sells works through its online store, including books, fibre art, painting, photography, sculpture and numbered limited-edition prints. It also runs workshops and keeps a blog. It is open Wednesday to Sunday, 12pm to 7pm.
