About

Dastan Gallery is a commercial gallery in Tehran that shows modern and contemporary Iranian art and takes its artists to Art Dubai, Artissima, Art Toronto and ARCOmadrid. Its exhibitions run under several names. Parallel Circuit and +2 both hold shows in Deh-Vanak, and +2 has further rooms on Beedar Street. Zaal Art Gallery is the group's space in Toronto.

The gallery dates from 2012, when Hormoz Hematian founded Dastan's Basement on Beedar Street, off Fereshte (Fayyazi) Street, as a space for emerging Iranian art. The Basement still holds exhibitions, and +2 followed in 2015. Under the name Dastan:Outside, the gallery has also staged pop-up shows in other Tehran buildings, the Shirin Confectionary building among them.

Away from the walls, Dastan issues monographs and artist books, and its events have included film screenings and performance. Tehran exhibitions have included Shahriar Ahmadi's The Great War, curated by Marco Meneguzzo, in 2025, and Bita Fayyazi's What Remains.. in 2026.
