About
Al Markhiya Gallery was established in 2008 in Souq Waqif, Doha, with a vision of nurturing and promoting Arab art locally and globally. It launched its 40 Minus series for artists under 40 in 2009, moved into Katara Cultural Village in 2014 and opened a second location in 2017.
Today it runs a space in Building 5 at Katara and a gallery at the Fire Station: Artist in Residence, and builds its programme around long-running series such as Process, Collaboration and Networks. In 2024 its exhibition The Sky Above Gaza… Imagine brought together more than 50 Palestinian and Arab artists.
