Abla Ababou Galerie
Rabat, Morocco, established 2017
Rabat gallery in Souissi showing contemporary Moroccan and international art since 2017.

About
Abla Ababou Galerie shows contemporary art in a space of almost 200 square metres in Souissi, a residential quarter of Rabat near the embassies. Ceilings rise above five metres and the rooms have museum lighting. The gallery's own description also includes a separate concept-store area for art objects.
The founder, Abla Ababou, trained in communication and journalism at the Institut Français de Presse in Paris. She wrote for Le Journal and later spent three years at 2M as a reporter and columnist. Coup de Lune, her first novel, was published in 2008. In 2010 she opened ab, a contemporary art gallery, in partnership with the designer Jamil Bennani. The present space followed on 28 April 2017, opening with monumental works by Mahi Binebine and a signing of his novel Le fou du roi.
Alongside exhibitions in its own rooms, the programme takes in off-site shows and book presentations and signings. The gallery has also appeared at the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in Marrakech. The gallery stands at 57, avenue Mehdi Ben Barka, near the Canadian embassy.
