Unveiled: Painting in the Age of Post-Produced Reality

Unveiled: Painting in the Age of Post-Produced Reality is a solo exhibition by Kirill Makarov (b. 1988) at Dom Art Projects in Al Quoz 1, Dubai, on view from 27 October 2026 to 10 March 2027. It is presented by Dom Art Gallery, the commercial arm of Dom Art Projects, and opens on 27 October alongside the group exhibition The Matter of Light.

Makarov rebuilds scenes of war from pieces of media imagery found online. He treats news photographs and single frames taken from online videos as points in space, and reassembles each scene as a three-dimensional setting. How exact a reconstruction can be depends on how many source images exist and how good they are.

Makarov works between figurative painting and digital media. His compositions pair painting with ultraviolet printing, augmented reality and video games, and look at how virtual and physical spaces meet. Dom Art Gallery has shown his work at the Tokyo Gendai art fair.
