Painting

Painting is a solo exhibition by Mustafa Isa at SANDS Art Gallery in Garden City, Cairo, from 22 September to 12 October 2026.

Installation views published by the gallery show large, heavily layered canvases in earth colours, some with small faces set into them, alongside brightly coloured gestural abstractions. The first-person exhibition text on the gallery's page describes the connection: "Between walls, faces, bodies, and trees, there is a natural flow, as the features of buildings merge with and surround the faces and beings." It proposes linking works and experiences "through a sequence, one layer following another, like geological layers," and considers "placing one panel next to another, creating a strip that reveals what brings them together."

The exhibition runs alongside Duet, a solo exhibition by Salwa Noureldin, on the same dates at SANDS. A catalogue is available from the gallery.
