Contemporary Art Platform (CAP) in Shuwaikh Industrial, Kuwait, presents National Day of Palestinian Women | A Tribute to Sliman Mansour from 26 October to 26 November 2026. The exhibition honours the Palestinian painter, who died in August 2026 at the age of 79. CAP organised it with the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Kuwait, and Tina Sherwell is the curator. At its core are seven Mansour works lent by the Barjeel Art Foundation in Sharjah: four oils on canvas, two paintings in oil and charcoal, and a lithograph. They hang with a wool piece, a painting and five lithographs by Mona Hatoum, Samia Halaby and Laila Shawa from the CAP Collection.

The Mansour loans run from 1977 to 2011. Sad Tunes (1977) and Olive Field (1980) are oils on canvas. Memory of Places and Quiet Morning, both oils from 2009, measure more than a metre on each side. Sacred Land and October Afternoon, both from 2011, combine oil and charcoal on canvases of about 170 by 120 centimetres. The lithograph shares its title, Jamal Al-Mahamel, with his painting of an elderly porter bearing Jerusalem on his back, an image that spread widely as a poster.

The works from the CAP Collection date from 1994 to 2013. Mona Hatoum's Shift (2012) is a wool piece, 150 by 260 centimetres, with a black map of the world crossed by yellow rings. Samia Halaby's Clouds and Trees (2013) is an acrylic on canvas 180 centimetres square. Laila Shawa is shown through five lithographs on paper from her 1994 series Walls of Gaza II, including Passages To Freedom and Letter To a Mother.

A second room is given to Palestinian women. It opens with a wall text in English and Arabic, Palestinian Women: Symbol of Steadfastness and Providing. Panels line the walls, each setting a photographic portrait beside a printed text. Hatoum's Shift hangs in this room. CAP frames the exhibition around the part women play in keeping Palestinian cultural identity, heritage and memory alive. The exhibition opened on Monday 26 October at 6pm.
