Métaphores

Métaphores is a group exhibition at Carré d'artistes Beirut, Fakhry Bey Street at the corner of Allenby Street, Beirut Central District, from 1 September to 30 November 2026, open from 11am to 7pm. It opens with a reception on 1 September at 5pm.

The gallery presents Métaphores as its autumn rehang, with new works by the gallery's regular artists hung alongside new arrivals and its walls and windows renewed. Its text characterises twelve artists one by one. In François-Régis Lemonnier's work time is present, often held in the silence of a tree; Lau Blou leads into an enchanted world that opens towards the stars; Abelardo Hernandez makes works that resemble sculpted murals; Sergi Mestres brings together art, music and cinema through pop icons; and Luc Langeron combines wood and clay with strong colour.

The Lebanese painter Jamal Kadamani, the gallery writes, returns to a gentle, familiar figurative world of Beirut streets and houses and men playing cards at dusk. The gallery also names Naen, for the handling of light; Christian Raffin, for urban perspectives of eastern cities; Rosangela, whose women wear crowns; Fady Chammas, for paintings on Lebanese identity and the memory of places; Mona Nahleh, whose figuration verges on abstraction; and Kikayou, for childlike images drawn from favourite comic characters.
