Corps et Cathédrales

Corps et Cathédrales is a solo exhibition by Mathieu Makhlouf at Galerie Cheriff Tabet in Achrafieh, Beirut, from 15 September to 2 October 2026. The vernissage takes place on Tuesday 15 September at 5pm, and the exhibition is open Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 6pm.

The exhibition brings together painting, drawing and writing. The gallery describes Makhlouf as pursuing "une recherche autour de l'Homme et des formes qu'il construit pour approcher ce qui le dépasse", a line of inquiry into humankind and the forms it builds to approach what lies beyond it. Bodies, figures, architecture and poetic fragments make up, in the gallery's words, "un ensemble où se rencontrent le matériel et l'immatériel, sans chercher à apporter de réponse définitive", an ensemble in which the material and the immaterial meet without seeking a definitive answer.

Mathieu Makhlouf is an artist on the gallery's roster. The artist's statement on the gallery website records drawing and painting lessons from the age of six, a bachelor's degree in architecture at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) and master's studies in the same field, and courses in theology at Université Saint-Joseph. Makhlouf has taught art classes in Ghadir, Jounieh, and has shown in solo and group exhibitions and on online platforms.

Corps et Cathédrales is followed at the gallery by Sabine Karam's exhibition of sculpture, Corps et Envols, which opens on 6 October 2026.
