BADE is a solo exhibition of paintings by Serkan Küçüközcü at Anna Laudel in Istanbul, on view from 11 September to 1 November 2026. The artist's sixth solo exhibition, it brings together 20 new paintings. One picture released by the gallery shows a striped circus tent standing on a grey lunar plain. Astronauts, a space shuttle and toy animals surround it, and the Earth hangs in the night sky above.
The gallery frames the new body of work around memory, intuition and the changing relationship between the inner and the outer world. The scenes look familiar at first sight, but that sense of recognition weakens the longer they are studied. Objects and figures stop standing only for themselves and start to hold traces of feeling and remembered experience.
No single story runs through the exhibition. Each canvas works as a separate episode with a narrative of its own, and its meaning is left open for the viewer to complete. The gallery presents painting here as a kind of dream journey, in which time slows and visitors bring their own recollections to the quiet gaps inside each picture.
Küçüközcü was born in Eskişehir in 1980 and studied Print Arts there. Anna Laudel has shown his work since 2016. In 2017 his solo presentation Daydreaming, part of Storyteller, set enlarged everyday things such as a lollipop and a carousel in empty landscapes with no people. His 2022 solo exhibition Un-limited Motion turned to colourful landscapes that drew on fragments of toys, games and tales.
