Noor Abuarafeh

Noor Abuarafeh is a Palestinian artist, born in Jerusalem in 1986, who is based between Jerusalem and Rotterdam. She works in video installation, performance, publication and text, often producing text-based pieces as alternative forms of the book.

Her subject is how history is documented, constructed and perceived, and what archives, museums and collections leave out. The video Am I the Ageless Object at the Museum? (2018), shown at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022, draws parallels between museums, zoos and cemeteries as places of preservation. In the lecture performance An Orange Tree, an Olive Tree and a Painting That Knows No Borders (EVA International, Limerick, 2025), she sets accounts of group walks in the West Bank against landscape paintings. Made With Your Magic at Beirut Art Center (2026) shows her video Memory of the Salt (2025) and her book If I Don't Whisper, I Will Forget (2025).

Abuarafeh holds a BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem (2011), and an MA in Public Spheres from the École cantonale d'art du Valais (2016). Her solo exhibitions include Al Ma'mal Foundation, Jerusalem (2019), and Kunstverein München (2023). She took part in Sharjah Biennial 13 (2017) and the 11th Berlin Biennale (2020), and won second prize in the A. M. Qattan Foundation's Young Artist of the Year Award (2014).
