Maryam Abel

Maryam Abel is a Qatari photographer. Her photographs centre on people, their faces and stories, and human emotion, and she treats photography as a means of human connection.

She is one of seven Qatari artists in the Museum of Islamic Art's Ektashif programme. The artists travelled through Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara in Uzbekistan and took workshops in geometry, ornamentation, ceramics, miniature painting and embroidery. The work she made after the journey was shown in Ektashif: Uzbekistan, a group exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, in 2026.
