Abdulla Al Fakhroo

Abdulla Al Fakhroo is a Qatari visual artist and calligrapher based in Doha, with more than twenty-five years of practice by 2026. His work brings together calligraphy, architecture and geometry and draws on Kufic styles of script.

In 2025 he took part in the Ektashif programme of Qatar Museums, travelling through Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara to study Timurid architecture, geometric brickwork, ceramics, ikat textiles and living craft traditions, with workshops in ceramics, embroidery, miniature painting and Islamic geometry. The work he made after the journey was shown in 2026 in Ektashif: Uzbekistan, a group exhibition of seven Qatari artists at the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha.

He founded Midad, a jewellery brand, and Bayt Al-Khattateen (House of Calligraphers).
