Lina Al Aali

Lina Al Aali is a Qatari visual artist and an author of children's and young adult books. Her work combines traditional visual elements, Islamic motifs and references to heritage, and presents women as symbols of memory and identity.

Her mural Sword of Wishes, commissioned by Katara and unveiled on Building 15 at Katara Cultural Village, Doha, in 2023, shows two girls with kites by the sea. She wrote and illustrated the children's story Desert Rose, whose Chinese edition was launched at Qatar's pavilion at the Beijing Expo in 2019.

She is one of seven Qatari artists in the Museum of Islamic Art's Ektashif programme. The artists travelled through Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara in Uzbekistan and took workshops in geometry, ornamentation, ceramics, miniature painting and embroidery. The work she made after the journey was shown in Ektashif: Uzbekistan, a group exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, in 2026.
