Biography

Federico Pinto Schmid (b. 1988, Orbetello, Italy) is an artist based in Porto Ercole who works in painting. He signs his work DiPinto and is self-taught. His abstract paintings deal with movement, colour and geometric demarcation, and the tension between fluidity and structure. He paints mainly in acrylic on canvas, often at 120 by 120 cm, sometimes adding oil pastel.

He grew up between Porto Ercole and Eschenlohe, Germany. As a child he spent time in the studio of his father, Mario Alexander Schmid, a sculptor and painter. His series Netti uses sharp lines and shifting planes, while Materia builds layered densities of colour. Jungle (2022) is a mixed-media canvas of 260 by 200 cm. Born from Rust (2026) combines acrylic, iron paste with rust and oil pastel.

His solo exhibitions include the Goldbach Center, Küsnacht (2019), and Museo Le Clarisse, Grosseto (2022). Secret Behind The Color followed at Hadadi Fine Art, San Francisco (2025), and DiPinto opens at Chaos Art Gallery, Beirut, in November 2026. He took first prize for painting at Stendardi d'autore (2018) and an Acquisition Prize from Malamegi Lab, Milan (2023). He was a selected artist at the Biennale di Sondrio (2024). Hadadi Fine Art lists him as a represented artist.
